Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site

Working for Cassidy and Ashton Architects Ltd, the consultancy prepared a "Building Appraisal and Assessment of Heritage Assets" for a grade II listed building within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. This considered the development and history of the Woodbridge Inn, its relationship with the industrial development of the valley, the contribution of the setting of the building to its significance and how this changed over the centuries. The report also considered the wider impact on the adjacent scheduled monument, Coalport Bridge, and on the Outstanding Universal Value of the WHS.

The appraisal revealed the importance of the previous industrial context alongside a forgotten wharf and informed the development of detailed plans for extensions and alterations, providing the justification for the partial demolition of a number of structures of no interest.

Planning permission was granted for extensions and alterations on 29th March 2012.
