Thimble Hall
The Grove - ground floor pedimented window
Derwentwater Youth Hostel

Listed Building - The Grove, Staffordshire

We designed new hand-forged steel and cast-iron railings for this prominent grade II listed Georgian house, to replace the existing stone and concrete boundary wall, based on our research of the appropriate local eighteenth century style of railings for the property. Our Design and Access Statement provided the justification for the restoration of these railings as well as for the reinstatement of a panelled door to an eighteenth century pattern, the removal of a twentieth century bay window and restoration of the original window with authentic details for the triangular pediment, stone architrave, pulvinated frieze and traditional sashes. Plans were prepared for internal alterations to add an attic bathroom and restore the splat baluster staircase.

We provided detailed drawings and specifications to enable accurate reinstatement of period details and these were submitted with applications for planning permission and listed building consent and approved.
