Melbourne Conservation Area Character Statement

Melbourne started out as a royal manor, visited on occasion by the king. The settlement changed dramatically at the turn of the 19th century when industrial development within the East Midlands reached out to small, rural Melbourne. The high status village, with its own castle & grand country house, was transformed into a Georgian town, with factories and housing for the new factory owners and workers.

As part of the Character Statement, we were asked to produce a photographic summary of the Architectural Details & a detailed map.
