Conservation Areas
For private clients we advise on planning applications affecting historic buildings in conservation areas and for local planning authorities we provide a full service to undertake conservation area appraisals & conservation area management plans (see separate pages for details).
Our work within Conservation Areas also includes the following:
Local Lists – advice / survey / public consultation
Local Lists provide recognition of the value of the local historic environment. They can include buildings & structures associated with notable local people or events, local landmarks or well-preserved historic buildings with local characteristics.
We will survey an area, write descriptive summaries of significance, and produce schedules & accompanying maps. We also regularly consult local amenity societies, which can be included as part of a public consultation exercise.
We recently produced draft Local Lists for all 22 conservation areas in South Derbyshire, in consultation with the Local Planning Authority.
Article 4 Directions – survey & public consultation
For Local Planning Authorities, we can provide advice on both Article 4 (1) Directions and Article 4 (2) Directions. We will survey your area, provide a schedule, an accompanying map and a detailed justification. We can also produce public consultation leaflets and carry out public consultation on your behalf or, if you prefer, in conjunction with your team.
