Conservation Areas

Our work within Conservation Areas includes the following:

Local Lists – advice / survey / public consultation
Local Lists provide recognition of the value of the local historic environment. Distinct from listed buildings, the special interest of “local list” buildings is taken into account when considering planning applications. Local lists can include buildings & structures associated with notable local people or events, local landmarks and well-preserved historic buildings with local characteristics.

We will survey an area, consult with local amenity societies, write descriptive summaries of significance, produce schedules & accompanying maps, all of which can be included within a public consultation exercise.

We recently produced draft Local Lists for all 22 conservation areas in South Derbyshire, in consultation with the Local Planning Authority.

Article 4 Directions – survey & public consultation
For Local Planning Authorities, we can provide advice on both Article 4 (1) Directions and Article 4 (2) Directions. We will survey your area, provide a schedule, an accompanying map and a detailed justification. We can also produce public consultation leaflets and carry out public consultation on your behalf or, if you prefer, in conjunction with your team.
