About Mel Morris (continued)

Mel is motivated by getting under the skin of a project, to understand it in all its complexity or simplicity, to distil what is important and address any conflicts. Informed research underpins all good decision-making and her approach to each project.

She believes it is important to explain the decision making process to people, and to provide clear, rational explanations, to remove the mystique surrounding conservation & challenge the widely held public view that all conservation advice is subjective.

Mel is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI), the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) and a member of the Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings (ASCHB).

Mel is based in the Staffordshire Moorlands where she works from a contemporary “eco” office in the garden of her 18th century home.

“…thank you for the considerable effort and valuable expertise you brought to the above project, since being employed on a consultancy basis in August of this year. All members of the Steering Group hold you in the highest regard and greatly appreciate the focus, drive and clarity you have given to the complex conservation issues, as well as to the management of the project in its entirety.”
